Structural IntegrityThis document establishes uniform accelerated laboratory test procedures for evaluating comparative performance characteristics of pneumatic valves designed to operate in 862 kPa (125 psi) nominal air brake systems. These tests are based upon long standing industry practices.

【摘要】:Themagneticparticlemethodofnondestructivetestingindicatesthepresenceofsurfaceandnear-surfacediscontinuitiesinmaterialsthatcanbemagnetized(ferromagnetic).Thismethodcanbeusedforproductionexaminationofparts/componentsorstructuresandforfieldapplicationswhereportabilityofequipmentandaccessibilitytotheareatobeexaminedarefactors.Theabilityofthemethodtofindsmalldiscontinuitiescanbeenhancedbyusingfluorescentparticlessuspendedinasuitablevehicleandbyintroducingamagneticfieldoftheproperstrengthwhoseorientationisascloseaspossibleto90x00B0;tothedirectionofthesuspecteddiscontinuity(see4.3.2).Asmoothersurfaceorapulsedcurrentimprovesmobilityofthemagneticparticlesundertheinfluenceofthemagneticfieldtocollectonthesurfacewheremagneticfluxleakageoccurs.1.1Thisguidedescribestechniquesforbothdryandwetmagneticparticletesting,anondestructivemethodfordetectingcracksandotherdiscontinuitiesatornearthesurfaceinferromagneticmaterials.Magneticparticletestingmaybeappliedtorawmaterial,semifinishedmaterial(billets,blooms,castings,andforgings),finishedmaterialandwelds,regardlessofheattreatmentorlackthereof.Itisusefulforpreventivemaintenancetesting.1.1.1Thisguideisintendedasareferencetoaidinthepreparationofspecifications/standards,proceduresandtechniques.1.2Thisguideisalsoareferencethatmaybeusedasfollows:1.2.1Toestablishameansbywhichmagneticparticletesting,proceduresrecommendedorrequiredbyindividualorganizations,canbereviewedtoevaluatetheirapplicabilityandcompleteness.1.2.2Toaidintheorganizationofthefacilitiesandpersonnelconcernedinmagneticparticletesting.1.2.3Toaidinthepreparationofproceduresdealingwiththeexaminationofmaterialsandparts.Thisguidedescribesmagneticparticletestingtechniquesthatarerecommendedforagreatvarietyofsizesandshapesofferromagneticmaterialsandwidelyvaryingexaminationrequirements.Sincetherearemanyacceptabledifferencesinbothprocedureandtechnique,theexplicitrequirementsshouldbecoveredbyawrittenprocedure(seeSection21).1.3Thisguidedoesnotindicate,suggest,orspecifyacceptancestandardsforparts/piecesexaminedbythesetechniques.Itshouldbepointedout,however,thatafterindicationshavebeenproduced,theymustbeinterpretedorclassifiedandthenevaluated.Forthispurposethereshouldbeaseparatecode,specification,oraspecificagreementtodefinethetype,size,location,degreeofalignmentandspacing,areaconcentration,andorientationofindicationsthatareunacceptableinaspecificpartversusthosewhichneednotberemovedbeforepartacceptance.Conditionswherereworkorrepairisnotpermittedshouldbespecified.1.4Thisguidedescribestheuseofthefollowingmagneticparticlemethodtechniques.1.4.1Drymagneticpowder(see8.4),1.4.2Wetmagneticparticle(see8.5),1.4.3Magneticslurry/paintmagneticparticle(see8.5.7),and1.4.4Polymermagneticparticle(see8.5.8).1.5PersonnelQualification8212;PersonnelperformingexaminationsinaccordancewiththisguideshouldbequalifiedandcertifiedinaccordancewithASNTRecommendedPracticeNo.SNT-TC-1A,ANSI/ASNTStandardCP-189,NAS410,orasspecifiedinthecontractorpurchaseorder.1.6NondestructiveTestingAgency8212;IfanondestructivetestingagencyasdescribedinP......
