【摘要】:Bulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)isthecharacteristicgenerallyusedforcalculationofthevolumeoccupiedbytheaggregateinvariousmixturescontainingaggregateincludingPortlandcementconcrete,bituminousconcrete,andothermixturesthatareproportionedoranalyzedonanabsolutevolumebasis.Bulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)isusedinthecomputationofvoidsinaggregateinC1252andC29/C29M.Bulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)determinedonthesaturatedsurfacedry(SSD)basisisusediftheaggregateiswet,thatis,ifitsabsorptionhasbeensatisfied.Conversely,thebulkrelativedensity(specificgravity)determinedontheoven-drybasisisusedforcomputationswhentheaggregateisdryorassumedtobedry.Apparentrelativedensity(specificgravity)pertainstotherelativedensityofthesolidmaterialmakinguptheconstituentparticlesnotincludingtheporespacewithintheparticlesthatisaccessibletowater.Thisvalueisnotwidelyusedinconstructionaggregatetechnology.Waterabsorptionvaluesareusedtocalculatethechangeinthemassofanaggregateduetowaterabsorbedintheporespaceswithintheconstituentparticles,comparedtothedrycondition,whenitisdeemedthattheaggregatehasbeenincontactwithwaterlongenoughtosatisfymostoftheabsorptionpotential.Thelaboratorystandardforabsorptionisthatobtainedaftersubmergingdryaggregateforapproximately24hoursinwater.Aggregatesminedfrombelowthewatertablemayhaveahigherabsorptionwhenused,ifnotallowedtodry.Conversely,someaggregateswhenusedmaycontainanamountofabsorbedmoisturelessthanthe24hourssoakedcondition:Foranaggregatethathasbeenincontactwithwaterandthathadfreemoistureontheparticlesurface,thepercentageoffreemoisturecanbedeterminedbydeductingtheabsorptionfromthetotalmoisturecontentdeterminedaccordingtoC566bydrying.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftherelativedensity(specificgravity)andabsorptionoffineaggregates.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
