【摘要】:MethodA8212;MethodAdescribesaquick,safemethodfordeterminingifpinholes,voids,ormetalparticlesareprotrudingthroughthecoating.Thismethodwillnot,however,findanythinspotsinthecoating.Thismethodwilldeterminetheexistenceofanygrossfaultsinthin-filmpipelinecoatings.MethodB8212;MethodBdescribesamethodfordeterminingifpinholes,voids,ormetalparticlesareprotrudingthroughthecoating,andthinspotsinpipelinecoatings.Thismethodcanbeusedtoverifyminimumcoatingthicknessesaswellasvoidsinquality-controlapplications.1.1Thesetestmethodscovertheapparatusandprocedurefordetectingholidaysinpipelinetypecoatings.1.2MethodAisdesignedtodetectholidayssuchaspinholesandvoidsinthin-filmcoatingsfrom0.0254to0.254mm(1to10mils)inthicknessusingordinarytapwaterandanappliedvoltageoflessthan100Vd-c.Itiseffectiveonfilmsupto0.508mm(20mils)thicknessifawettingagentisusedwiththewater.Itshouldbenoted,however,thatthismethodwillnotdetectthinspotsinthecoating,eventhoseasthinas0.635mm(25mils).Thismaybeconsideredtobeanondestructivetestbecauseoftherelativelylowvoltage.1.3MethodBisdesignedtodetectholidayssuchaspinholesandvoidsinpipelinecoatings;butbecauseofthehigherappliedvoltages,itcanalsobeusedtodetectthinspotsinthecoating.Thismethodcanbeusedonanythicknessofpipelinecoatingandutilizesappliedvoltagesbetween900and20000Vd-c.Thismethodisconsidereddestructivebecausethehighvoltagesinvolvedgenerallydestroythecoatingatthinspots.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitstothreesignificantdecimalsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
